About
Tydan Landscape
A Family-Owned Landscaping Company Focused on Quality.
Tydan Landscape has been building outdoor spaces in London, Ontario since 1998. The name "Tydan" comes from Tyler and Danielle, the children of founders Paul and Anne Marie — as Paul and Anne Marie step back from day-to-day involvement, Tyler now leads the business, carrying forward the same in-house approach to design and construction the company was built on. The formal business name is Tydan Landscape Design Inc.; the company is also known as Tydan Construction on some of its own channels.
Our Story
Tydan started as a family business, and the name has always reflected that: Paul and Anne Marie built the company, and named it after their kids. That family structure is still how the business runs today — Tyler leads it now, but the shift happened gradually, with Paul and Anne Marie stepping back rather than stepping away all at once, and the crew that made Tydan's reputation for craftsmanship staying largely the same through that transition.
What hasn't changed is the in-house model: design, permits, and construction handled by one team rather than subcontracted out piece by piece. Tydan owns and operates its own heavy equipment, rents specific equipment beyond that only when a project calls for it, and every operator is trained and certified on whatever's brought to a job site. The company is fully insured and in good standing with WSIB.

What We Do
Tydan works across five main areas — Landscape Design, Landscape Construction (retaining walls, patios, driveways, structures, kitchens, fences and decks, and water features), Outdoor Living Enhancements, and Cottage Landscaping. Design and construction are offered as separate services — you can commission a design plan on its own, or bring Tydan in for both.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Tydan Landscape actually a family business, or is that just branding?
It's real — the company was founded by Paul and Anne Marie, named after their children Tyler and Danielle, and is now led by Tyler as the second generation takes over day-to-day operations.
How long has Tydan been in business?
Since 1998.
Is Tydan licensed and insured?
Landscaping isn't a licensed trade the way electrical or plumbing work is, but Tydan is fully insured and in good standing with WSIB, and holds third-party certifications (Master Certified Aquascape Contractor, Unilock Authorized Contractor, ICPI Certified) that are independently verifiable.
Does Tydan handle design, construction, or both?
Both, but they're separate services — landscape design has its own fee and can be commissioned on its own, or you can move forward with Tydan for construction afterward.
How much does a landscape design cost?
It depends on the scale of the property and what's being designed. Standard fees apply for designs within the City of London; additional fees apply for design projects outside London. Call to discuss the specifics for your property.
When do I need a permit?
General guidelines — always confirm with your local municipality or conservation authority for your specific property:
- A deck or patio over 24 in (600mm) in height
- A deck or patio that's a principal entrance to a dwelling, regardless of height or size
- Swimming pools and pool enclosures
- Construction adjacent to an environmentally protected area (e.g. a property backing onto land protected by the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority)
- Retaining walls over 2 ft (1.2m) in height (engineering permit)
- Removing a tree with a diameter over 19.68 in (500mm), which requires City of London bylaw approval
- A shed, pool house, accessory building, or detached garage over 108 sq ft (10 sq m)
Is all the work done in-house, or does Tydan subcontract?
In-house. The same team and project management stay with a project from design through construction, rather than handing pieces off to different subcontractors per trade.
